These are the kinds of things you can expect to do on a regular basis if you are chosen to join our team as a Supervisor for our Insurance Team:

  • Oversees and sometimes performs the job duties of subordinate positions when needed
  • Reviews and approves requests from the insurance team for Adjustments and Refunds
  • Participates in the review process for each Insurance AR Team member
  • Participates in the process of hiring members of the Insurance AR Team
  • Produces productivity and error reports for the department assistant manager
  • Supervises the team that follow-up with insurance companies and ensures claims are paid/processed.  Servicing each account in priority of importance and independently billing acconts with understanding of all applicable insurance and/or CMS regulations
  • Supervised the team that resubmits insurance claims that have received no response or are not on file, in a timely manner according to each insurance's contracted filing limits
  • Supervises the team that reviews and appeals unpaid and denied claims, including analysis of coding that assures proper billing
  • Supervises the team that makes changes to demographic information as necessary in order to produce a clean claim
  • Supervised the team that researches and prepares insurance credits for refund approval and coordinates with accounting to post and mail the approved refunds
  • Prioritize work to maximize turn-around time
  • Supervises the team to ensure they meet or exceed productivity standards in the completion of daily assignment and accurate production
  • Supervises the team to ensure maintenance of an error rate of 3% or less
  • Supervises the team that answers and responds to external and internal phone calls in a timely and professional manner
  • Check and responds to emails in a timely and professional manner

Skills / Requirements

Skills and Proficiencies:

  • Supervisor and leadership experience required
  • The ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Strong background and experience in Revenue Cycle Management
  • Active knowledge of CMS guidelines, contracted insurance guidelines and coding policies
  • Demonstrates computer literacy
  • Well-organized with attention to detail
  • Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions
  • Excellent math skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with team members, clinic staff, payers and patients
  • Professional customer service skills.
  • Has a desire and dedication to work with self-discipline
  • Maintains the highest confidentiality and adheres to all HIPPA guidelines and regulations

Physical Abilities:

  • Ability to sit for long periods.  Work requires walking, bending, standing, sitting, and reaching. 

To be effective in this role, you must have:

  • Seven years of medical billing experience
  • A high-school diploma or equivalent
  • Ophthalmology background preferred but not required
